Ayatollah Sistani: Economic corruption worse than ISIL terrorism

In a meeting with Sam al-Zajrawi, the chairman of the Regulatory Commission of the Council of Iraq’s Najaf province, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani stressed upon the necessity of prosecuting and punishing those responsible for their role in the corruption affecting Iraq’s economy.

Speaking at a press conference, al-Zajrawi quoted the revered source of emulation as emphasizing that those involved in economic corruption are worse than ISIL terrorists.

During the meeting, al-Zajrawi also presented cases of senior government officials involved in corruption and informed Ayatollah Sistani of the latest developments in regard to the cases.
