Malaysian Qaris Wins Russia’s Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 17th edition of Moscow international Holy Quran competition concluded in a ceremony on Sunday.
Representative of Malaysia bagged the first prize in the contest while those from Yemen and Bahrain came second and third respectively.
The panel of judges announced Iran’s Mehdi Saed and Iraq’s representative as the winners of the fourth and fifth ranks respectively.
28 countries took part in this edition of the contest, which began in the Russian capital on Thursday.
It was organized by Russia’s Council of Muftis in cooperation with the office of Moscow’s governor general.
This year it only included one category, that is, recitation of the Quran.
Quran experts from Russia, Iran, Bahrain, Morocco and Turkey formed the panel of judges.
